Prompt Engineering vs RAG for Editing Resumes

Testing revealed that using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) with Azure significantly outperformed basic prompt engineering when using large language models to create tailored resumes from job postings. While prompt engineering alone resulted in substantial fabricated accomplishments and certifications, RAG systems that drew from existing resume databases produced more grounded and relevant content, though both approaches still required careful human review to prevent AI hallucinations.
