Perplexity Computer adding ability to split tasks between local and cloud models

Perplexity is adding a hybrid AI feature to its Computer platform that automatically splits tasks between on-device and cloud-based models. Sensitive data like health records or financial files stays local for privacy, while tasks needing more power are sent to stronger server-based models — all without users having to choose. The feature launches in July.
