I don't think AGI is imminent

Despite CEO claims that artificial general intelligence is imminent, current large language models face fundamental limitations that may take decades to overcome. These systems lack cognitive primitives like object permanence and spatial reasoning that evolved over millions of years in biological brains, instead trying to reverse-engineer these concepts from text patterns alone, while their feed-forward transformer architecture prevents the kind of recurrent processing that characterizes human cognition.
