Google updates its weather forecasts with a new AI model

Google launched WeatherNext 2, a new AI weather model that generates forecasts eight times faster than its previous version while accurately predicting 99.9 percent of weather variables. The company is integrating this technology into mainstream products like Search, Maps, Gemini, and Pixel phones, moving beyond experimental use. WeatherNext 2 produces predictions in under a minute compared to hours required by traditional physics-based models, offering forecasts up to 15 days ahead with hourly updates for both consumers and enterprise customers.
