Generative AI isn't biting into wages, replacing workers, and isn't saving time, economists say

A study of 25,000 Danish workers found that generative AI chatbots have had minimal impact on wages and employment so far. Users reported average time savings of only 2.8%, with 8.4% seeing new tasks created. Time savings rarely translated to higher earnings. Company-led investments nearly doubled AI adoption rates from 47% to 83%. However, the overall impact on the labor market remains limited, with researchers noting that workplace rigidities may delay economic effects of AI implementation.
