Ben Affleck and Matt Damon share their views on using AI to write movies

Two Hollywood heavyweights just delivered a scathing critique of artificial intelligence's role in filmmaking that has the entertainment industry buzzing. Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, appearing on The Joe Rogan Podcast to promote their new Netflix film "The Rip," pulled no punches when discussing AI-generated content in movies. Affleck dismissed AI writing entirely, saying "I just can't stand to see what it even writes," while Damon was equally blunt about AI's limitations in capturing authentic human emotion. Recalling Dwayne Johnson's powerful performance in "The Smashing Machine," Damon argued that no algorithm can replicate the raw emotion that comes from real human experience: "You can have AI understand Dwayne's face and move it in to different expressions, no f*****g AI can do that." Still, Affleck sees potential for AI as a production tool, comparing it to CGI for creating realistic environments without expensive location shoots, though he doubts it will ever create meaningful scripts or replace human creativity at the heart of storytelling.
